Inspired by: Elegant Statement Necklaces

With Valentine's Day coming up soon, what better way to complete a romantic outfit than with a fabulously girly statement necklace? I'm not sure where the necklaces shown above are from, but I do know that  Forever 21 always has lovely (and cheap!) jewelry. These four are my favorites:
One. Two. Three. Four.

Anyway, sorry for the lack of posts lately. I just started school last week and I'm still trying to find my bearings. (Starting school again after winter break is always painful!)

Inspired by: Elizabeth Bennet

So what would Miss Bennet wear today? Taking cues from the Regency Era, a modern day Elizabeth Bennet would delight in wearing flowing, feminine silhouettes, like this sea foam green empire waist dress. This lovely dress would look best accessorized with simple pearl stud earrings or with a silver heart locket, no doubt containing a picture of the dashing Mr. Darcy.

Ladies wearing pants would have been unheard of back in the early 1800s, but the Lizzy of today would be comfortable yet put together in a pair of gray skinny jeans and a silk blouse. For more dressy occasions, Lizzy would impress even the most discerning party hosts by pairing an embellished skirt with a soft pink blouse cinched with a corsage belt.

Some of Miss Bennet's other wardrobe staples would be oversized sunglasses (as an alternative to the mob caps and parasols of the Regency Era), a chic crossbody bag, sleek sky high suede ankle booties, and a wear-with-anything black cardigan.

Lovely Things 1.5.12

I will always be a small town/suburban girl at heart. Despite the countless number of times I've complained about having nothing to do on a Saturday night, I truly enjoy living in a quiet, safe neighborhood in a quiet, safe town. That being said, there is a definite allure about the idea of living in a big city. For me, I'm sure it's all about the city lights, so dazzling that they almost make up for the lack of stars.

Holiday Recap

This is what I wore for my family's Christmas party. This year, I wanted to try something different from the usual red or green. I found this sapphire blue dress at Charlotte Russe and I knew that its simple silhouette would be perfect for dressing up with statement jewelry. These gorgeous feathered pumps were my Christmas present from my mom. :)

This is me with my cousin Brian. We're pretty close since we're the only two "kids" in our family still in our late teens/early 20's. We had just finished eating when my mom decided to take this picture.

Me with my cousin Ashley - my Secret Santa this year. Check out her headband! I like to think that she has my sense of style too. Haha.

My favorite cousins and I, just hanging out and taking random pictures.

Here I am making faces at my...second cousin? nephew? My family tree is pretty confusing...

...It's because there are so many of us. This is a group photo of all my cousins, or at least, all of my cousins who were at the party. In reality, there are about 30 of us.

Yeah, I definitely wasn't kidding about having a huge family. :)

Inspired by: Gold Confetti and Peonies

As you can see from this previous post, I'm a new fan of  kate spade new york. I absolutely adore the bright colors and clean lines of this brand, which are so different from the muted colors and soft feminine details that I'm usually drawn to. Imagine my delight when I discovered that there is a Kate Spade book called Things we Love. Think of this little book as a compact inspiration board, filled with vibrant photos and beautiful typefaces. My absolute favorite spread is the one with gold confetti and peonies.

This Year is Going to Sparkle

I will admit that after taking an extra long hiatus from blogging, I am somewhat at a lost on how to commemorate the passing of 2011 and the coming of this new year. I will say this though: I consider today as the official relaunch date of Pemberley Rose. Yes, having this this blog for the past year has definitely been fun and rewarding, but I'd love to see how far I can take this little hobby of mine. For me, this is the year to change Pemberley Rose from something that I work on sporadically to something I can continue to grow every single day. For that reason, rather than resolutions, I've made some specific blog-related goals:

1) Stick to a weekly posting schedule. I can't promise to have X amount of Style Posts per week, but I can definitely handle sticking to a schedule. In this way, I hope to keep my blog organized and my content more engaging. On a related note, I also hope to...

2) Post at least 5 times a week. However, my ultimate goal is to be able to post something every single day. I'm sure my new weekly schedule will help with that goal.

3) Increase meaningful interaction with my fellow bloggers and readers. This includes reading and commenting more, of course, but also making better use of my Twitter and Facebook accounts. So far, I've only been using these social media accounts to announce new blog posts. I know, I know...not very inspiring. This year though, I'm looking forward to having more conversations within this wonderful blogging community!

4) Take more pictures. This goal does include taking more outfit photos, but I'd also like to take more time to document my daily adventures. No, I don't own a fancy DSLR (maybe someday in the future), but it would definitely be fun to add "photo blog" to Pemberley Rose's description.

5) Monetize. It would be absolutely wonderful to eventually have sponsors for my blog. Collaborating with other blogs/websites/companies seems like a really neat experience. This is a long term goal though. For now, my main focus is to continue to grow my readership and continue to develop my blog.

Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful New Year! I'll post a holiday recap soon.
