Style Post: Angel Stadium

Yesterday was lovely. It was hot and sunny, but not too uncomfortable for an overcast day lover like me. It was a perfect day for a baseball game! My boyfriend Lucas and I are Angels fans, and before you ask, yes - I do own an Angels shirt. I didn't even know we were going to a game until last minute and by then, I had already decided on this outfit. And let's be honest: a Style Post with my Dan Haren shirt, shorts, and Converse probably wouldn't be very interesting. :)

One of my favorite things to wear this summer (besides bright colors) are see-through tops. I'm especially loving all the lace and crochet tops that seem to be in every store lately. I'm thinking of writing a post on how to wear sheer and see-through tops soon. Until then, I hope you're all enjoying my first Style Post with this awesome summer trend!

Yes, I did match my bracelets to my clothing. I also added a purple bangle for an extra pop of color. I didn't want my outfit to look too matchy-matchy.

Lucas and I enjoying the game. We sat in the nosebleed section, in direct sunlight. Despite the fact that I have tan skin, I do sunburn easily. For me, the sun couldn't go down fast enough. I do like these photos though.

Have I posted a photo of me in these sunglasses before? I think so, but I don't think I've talked about them yet. Anyway, I LOVE them. They are by Kate Spade and I always feel glamorous in them, even when I'm not wearing any makeup. These were definitely a splurge for me since I honestly have never spent more than $5 on sunglasses. (Don't judge! Haha.) I won't reveal how much I paid for these, but I will say this: these sunglasses are my favorite investment for the summer and beyond.

As you can see, while watching the game, I also took lots of pictures of myself. Don't you just love how that random lady is photobombing me in the background? Very nice. Also, note my lipstick. It was bright pink - brighter than it looks in this picture. How bright, you ask? It almost matches my skirt. Yes, bright pink lipstick makes me feel glamorous too.

I love natural, un-Photoshopped lens flare. I almost forgot to mention that all of these photos were taken with my Android's camera. I can't afford a DSLR (maybe someday), but I think I'll be taking all of my photos with my cell phone instead of my mom's point and shoot from now on.

And by the way, the Angels won. YAY!

Outfit Details:
Blue Crochet Top: INC International Concepts. Lace Bandeau: Francesca's Collections. Bright Pink Skirt: Free Hug. Jelly Flats: Steve Madden. Sunglasses: Kate Spade. Bag: Betsey Johnson. Colorful Bangles: Forever 21.

Pixel Me Pretty

After waiting for nearly three weeks, I finally got the call I'd been waiting for on Monday morning. My new glasses had finally come in. (They were on back order.) Yes, these are prescription glasses since I'm very nearsighted. I'm thinking of doing a Style Post with these glasses on in the near future because I know you all have only seen me in contacts. I feel so smart and sophisticated (in a semi-nerdy way) in these!

On Tuesday night, Lucas and I attended an Angels game. It was a promotion night and we both received free Albert Pujols bobbleheads. The Angels ended up losing, but I still had a lot of fun. For one thing, this was a Gayle and Lucas date night. Second of all, Dan Haren was pitching! I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before, but I have a huge crush on him, mostly because I have a thing for men with beards. :) I snapped this picture just as he was about to throw another pitch. As soon as I took the picture, Lucas looked over my shoulder and said, "Are you done now?" Haha. Good times.

My grandma, my younger brother, and I went to go run some errands on Thursday afternoon. Afterwards, we stopped by Yogurtland. This might be my #1 favorite yogurt and toppings combination ever: green tea yogurt with brownie bites, chocolate chips, and chocolate syrup. So, did I feel guilty for eating that much chocolate? No, not really. No regrets...it was delicious.

My mom and I had a late lunch/early dinner date at Macaroni Grill on Friday afternoon. I love this restaurant. The food is very good and the lights suspended from the ceiling are very pretty. To add to the amazingness (Yes, I made up that word), we even got a free dessert: Lemon Passion Cake. So, do you think I felt guilty about eating that too? Well, maybe just a little bit...but it was worth it.

Baseball Cupcakes

My boyfriend Luke's 26th birthday was on the 15th and I wanted to do something special. I baked cupcakes last year, but the frosting melted under the hot sun. This year, - thankfully - it was only around 75 degrees or so. It was a good thing too, because instead of just plain frosting like last year, I wanted something a little more festive. I've mentioned several times that we're both really into baseball (and we're both sad that the season is almost over!), so I decided to try making my cupcakes look like baseballs.

This was the inspiration:

This is how mine turned out:

Not too shabby for a first try, if I do say so myself. Obviously, mine aren't quite as perfect as Martha Stewart's. She used licorice for the baseball stitches and I used gel icing, just because I wanted to be more precise with the 2 and the 6. I just noticed too that the thicker stitches look like little hearts. :)

My amazing BestFriend Faustina was kind enough to come over and help me bake and decorate these cupcakes. In fact, she did most of the stitches since my first attempt looked a little lopsided. She did a pretty amazing job, don't you think?

And in case you're wondering, yes, Luke loved these! Yay me for scoring some girlfriend points. ♥

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out.
At the old ball game.

Here's a picture of me, Faustina, and our friend Brett at an Angels game. More precisely, this was a picture from last Tuesday's game against the Washington Nationals. (I finally got around to posting it today!) We actually had a pretty big group with us that night, which included Lucas, two of his younger brothers, and two friends. We took pictures with our phones and sadly, this was the only one that came out blog-worthy.

By the way, don't you just LOVE that crazy fan wig that Brett made me wear? Hehe.

Play Ball!

One of my favorite parts of late spring/summer is...baseball season! I'll admit, it's not exactly the most exciting sport to watch live, but there's just something about sitting in the stadium, nom nom nom-ing on peanuts, while cheering every time your favorite team gets a home run. I'm sure you can imagine my delight when I found this dress, which looks just like a vintage baseball jersey. Lucas and I are Angels fans, so this dress is definitely the wrong color combination. But you know what it does remind me of? Twilight baseball!
